The Ghee-liciousness of Desi Ghee
It goes without saying that ghee adds a lot of happiness to whatever we eat. Just imagine eating roti and your favorite curry garnished with ghee. Although, we let of this happiness go believing some highly popularized myths!
Lets #Debunk these myths!
#Myth1 Ghee is made from Malai
Traditionally Ghee is made from whole curd and then hand churned in bilona. The logic behind this is that fermenting milk overnight generates good bacteria and enzymes which doesn’t happen when malai is used to make ghee.
#Myth2 Ghee is fattening
This perhaps is the biggest myth that ghee makes you fat! In fact, ghee helps you manage your weight. It is loaded with Omega 3 fatty acids which aids in weight loss in a healthy manner.
Again, not true! Cooking in ghee results in absorbing more nutrients. It is high source of vitamins, antioxidants, and healthy fats. Ghee also aids in easy digestion and improves gut health.
#Myth4 Cooking with Ghee can be harmful
In reality, ghee has high smoke point i.e; 250 degree Celsius, which doesn’t break into free radicals like oils do because of low smoke point. So, sautéing, baking, deep-frying and stir-frying in ghee is not only healthy but tasty as well and makes food lighter on your stomach.
